Specialities Include:

  • Separation anxiety in dogs is a behavioral disorder triggered by stress when the dog is separated from their attachment figure, often resulting in vocalization, destructive behavior, or elimination. Involves heightened arousal of the stress-response system, including elevated cortisol levels, indicating a strong emotional and physiological reaction to perceived isolation.

  • Obedience in dogs is the consistent, reliable performance of learned behaviors in response to cues from their handler. It relies on principles of operant conditioning, where behaviors are shaped and maintained through reinforcement and clear communication.

Amanda’s K9 Helper, Oliver

Oliver is a two-year-old Whippet who plays a key role at The K9’s Virtue, specializing in socialization for our obedience dogs. His energetic and playful nature encourages dogs to come out of their shells and engage confidently in play. With expert control, Oliver can quickly pause play to help dogs build focus, then re-engage to teach them to work through distractions and stay attentive to their owners. He exemplifies complete off-leash control, showing dogs how to balance excitement with responsiveness.

Amanda recently completed her apprenticeship with K9s Virtue and has been working in the field of behavior modification for over 10 years. She has a strong foundation in behavior science and hands-on experience working with dogs with a wide range of needs. With a background as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), she brings a deep understanding of learning theory and behavior change into every training plan. Her journey into dog training began after navigating severe separation anxiety and reactivity with her own dogs, giving her personal insight into how overwhelming behavior challenges can feel. That experience shapes her compassionate, practical approach, focused on ethical methods, clear communication, and helping dogs and their people build real trust and confidence together.
